Nestled just outside the city of Vancouver, the North Shore offers a rich tapestry of nature for stunning outdoor portraits. From rugged coastlines to lush forests, the North Shore is a photographer’s paradise. Here are two standout locations that I’ve personally selected for their exceptional beauty and versatility for portrait photography.
For a complete overview of all the incredible places I’ve scouted for my photography services, explore my collection of the best spots for portrait photography in British Columbia.
Whytecliff Park
Located in West Vancouver, Whytecliff Park offers a distinctive rocky shoreline, which reminds me of Vancouver Island’s coastlines, easily accessible. The coastline here is not only dramatic but provides an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, making it an ideal location for couples, solo shoots, maternity sessions, and branding photography. The park faces directly west, making it a perfect spot for golden hour portraits. In addition to the coast, Whytecliff Park is surrounded by trees, allowing for multiple compositional opportunities.
Deep Cove
Deep Cove in North Vancouver holds a special place in my heart. It was the first location I visited when I moved to British Columbia in 2019, and the calm oceanic surrounded by evergreen mountains inspired me to choose Deep Cove as the location for my own wedding. Deep Cove is known for its misty mornings, that adds an elegant touch to portraits, creating a dreamy and timeless atmosphere. Also, the location offers easy access to the well-maintained forest trails of the cove and the stunning vistas of Indian Arm from Quarry Rock. As the cove faces east, sunrises here are nothing short of breathtaking, perfect for capturing romantic and serene portraits.
