Recently, I had the chance to explore Strathcona Park and the nearby Campbell River area, venturing deep into this stunning northern landscape.
While I have yet to have the honor of photographing an elopement here, walking through these wild, untouched places left me truly captivated. As a photographer, I felt the magnetic pull of the North — a raw, wild atmosphere that wraps around you and invites you to slow down and connect with nature.
Here are some of the most breathtaking locations to elope in Strathcona Provincial Park.
Lupin Falls: a hidden waterfall
One of my favorite stops was Lupin Falls — a magical, short trail leading to a charming waterfall tucked away under a canopy of old-growth forest.
The light filtering through the trees created an enchanting atmosphere, perfect for dreamy, intimate portraits. This spot feels secluded and untouched, making it an ideal backdrop for couples seeking a quiet, mystical setting for their vows.
Ripple Rock Lookout
Before reaching the Ripple Rock Lookout trailhead, I stumbled upon a breathtaking golden meadow that felt straight out of a fairytale.
Here, surrounded by tall, sunlit grasses swaying in the breeze, I took a moment for myself, capturing a few self-portraits to remember the magic of this place.
The trail itself climbs gently through forests and rocky outcrops, opening up to sweeping views over Seymour Narrows — a perfect setting for adventurous couples wanting a dramatic landscape for their ceremony or portraits.
Upper Campbell Lake
The shores of Upper Campbell Lake offer pure serenity.
The stillness of the water, framed by lush forests and distant mountains, is unbelievably peaceful. It’s easy to imagine a quiet lakeside elopement here, with reflections dancing on the surface and nothing but the sounds of nature surrounding you.
The entire area around the lake is a haven for soft, romantic imagery — perfect for a couple wanting a truly private escape.
Campbell River Shoreline

Not far from the park, the Campbell River oceanfront adds a completely different flavor to your elopement story.
Parks and paths line the shoreline, offering wide-open views over the Salish Sea. At sunset, the ocean lights up with golds and pinks, creating a breathtaking backdrop for portraits by the water. The salty air, the sound of the waves, and the rugged coastline all come together for an unforgettable setting.
